Why Choose This MS69 2023 Great Britain 2 Piece Silver Britannia Queen and King Set?
Many nations have an annual bullion coin, for Great Britain it’s the Britannia. While the Gold Britannia was introduced earlier, the Silver Britannia was first issued in 1997. These coins highlight Britannia, the personification of Great Britain. The Silver Britannia coins in this set were minted for 2023 and it’s a historic year for the series. 2023 is the first time that a Britannia will be struck with a new monarch. The set includes one 2023 Silver Britannia featuring Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, representing one of the last time she will appear on the series, and one 2023 Silver Britannia with the first portrait of King Charles III, representing the first time the King will appear on the series.
- This set includes two 2023 Silver Britannia bullion coins.
- They have been certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC).
- Each coin weighs 1 Troy oz and is made of .999 fine silver.
- Each Britannia boasts four innovative security features.
- One displays the final portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.
- One has the first portrait of King Charles III on its obverse.
Two Monarchs in One Year
Obverse: The first Silver Britannia in this set has Her Late Majesty’s final portrait on its obverse, which was the work of Jody Clark. The other shows the first effigy of King Charles III, which was created by Martin Jennings. The 2023 Britannia featuring the King’s effigy represents the first time a monarch other than Queen Elizabeth II has appeared on the Britannia.
Reverse: The reverse shows a stunning depiction of Britannia. Her gown trails behind her as she holds her trident in one hand and her shield in the other. A small trident privy mark is in the lower left portion of the design. This side of each coin is inscribed with the date and silver content.
