A beautiful recreation of the original craft of the 1847 Gothic Crown, this Incredible 2oz Gold Proof Coin features a medieval-inspired reverse design, showcasing the Queen in St Edward’s Crown, an ornament that had been worn in royal coronations since the 13th century.
Depicted on the edge of the coin are inscriptions that use the ‘blackletter’ style which was popular in literature and carvings during the Middle Ages.
William Dyce’s artistic ability can be observed on the reverse of this Special Release, featuring a unique depiction of the Royal Arms of The United Kingdom, surrounded by stunning floral symbols which represent the highlighted nations beautifully. Showcased in incredible detail in the centre are the arms of the Order of the Garter – the order is recognised as the oldest and most senior order of chivalry in Britain.
