The 2023 release of the China Mint’s Silver Panda coin represents the 40th year of issue of the iconic series. With the exception of 2002, which reprised the design of 2001, every release of the series has featured a delightful new panda design. The anniversary coin also represents the fifth installment of a charming “series within a series” launched in 2019. Scheduled to conclude in 2028, the ten-coin mini-series narrates the story of a panda’s life from cub to maturity.

Heartwarming 2023 Panda Design
Obverse: The Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, located in the Beijing Temple of Heaven, is depicted on the obverse. The image border contains the inscription “People’s Republic of China” in Chinese characters, and the issue date “2023.”
Reverse: The reverse illustrates a pair of young twin pandas playfully climbing amid the abundant foliage of a tree. Inscriptions include “30 g Ag .999” and the coin’s “10 Yuan” face value. The meticulously detailed design is the work of acclaimed Chinese artist Tong Fang. Ms. Tong also created the 2019 and 2021 Panda designs, and is the anticipated designer of the imagery for the 2027 release.
